Dear HC Online, My Horstmann Z322 appears to have failed as far as switching to hot water only is concerned. Central heating is fine and I have hot water when heating is on. The activator arm on the unit appears to remain only in ‘up’ position (from top). Will the replacement unit, above, fit straight on my existing body without releasing water/needing to drain down etc. If so, I’ll order following your reply. Many thanks, David Buxton. Answers1

Yes it will. Check the valve body has full movement to the hot water position..

Yes it is. The F322m is obsolete.

Hi, I currently have a Horstmann F322m 3 way motorised valve fitted, and the motor has gone in the actuator - therefore it only works when moved manually. Would this new model fit directly onto the old valve (e.g. re-wire and fit straight on)? Is the flow the same etc? Just trying to avoid drain-down and replace the actual valve if I can get away with it? It does indicate that it is compatible in the description, just want to be sure. Thanks. Answers1

You will need to replace the whole valve, the new actuator will not fit onto the old body.

You will need to make some pipe work and wiring changes to replace the Switchmaster VA1 as it has different size, orientation and wiring.
