Exactly how may a Potterton EP2 programmer be setup for 3 on/off periods, this does not appear to be an option on the setup panel? Answers1

Choose ID number 4,5,6,10,11 or 12 when applying power to the programmer. Please see the instructions (section 11) for more details.

Instructions for initial setup show options 1 - 12 with pumped or gravity on the display. I've got 1 - 12 but no indication of whether pumped or gravity. How do I determine which is the right one? The table is no help. Answers1

If you have 1 or more motorised valves on your system, then you need to choose a pumped option.

Gravity systems are very rare now.

Under the programming Door on the EP2 programmer I only see a button that says H/W. Does that set up both heating times and the hot water times.Confused as I xpected to see a button H/W for Hot Water and another for C/H - central heating .... Answers1

Yes, the H/W is for Heating/Water - not Hot Water.

Although you say that the ep2 is plug in compatible with the ep6000, I vaguely recall from S******* q&as when they sold it that there was a link that needed to be changed. Is that right? Answers1

No wiring changes are needed at all.

If you have one or more motorised valves, then it is a fully pumped system. Fully pumped has been standard now for 20 years.

You will need to switch off the electric before swapping, but other than that is is a simple 5-minute plug-on job with no wiring needed.
